Perfect Madeleines – St John Bread and Wine
BEHOLD, I have with me, the only recipe you will ever need for The Perfect Madeleines Happiness. I will tell you a story about a girl who found her happily ever after… Once upon a time There was a young girl who woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Letting her emotions take over her, she got into a heated argument with her boyfriend as she was exceptionally petty about his neglect to fulfil a minor task. Despite the precipitation of a frosty atmosphere between them, they went ahead with their original plans to have lunch in central London. It has been more than an hour now and…

1-Two-3+ Cream Cheese Perfectionist
Cream cheese frosting is always second to any other buttercream frosting because it’s much creamier and it may be difficult to work with. Especially if you are from a warm weather country, the cream cheese becomes so soft that piping it may be really difficult. Even so, there are a few reasons why I’d still choose a cream cheese frosting over a buttercream frosting any day: I can reduce the sugar and thus the sweetness because it already has a great tangy flavour It makes me feel good knowing that I’ve halved my calorie and fat intake 🙂 Now, I don’t really like the word Perfectionist but I can’t quite…

Matcha Brownies
In preparation for visiting the best place on Earth (you guessed it – Japan), I am warming up my taste buds by exposing them to an overdose of matcha in the hope that I graduate into a Matcha Snob after my trip in 3 weeks. Fellow acquaintances would refer to me as Sensei Sue. NO, it will be SenSue. (Wait, this isn’t my first time revealing my name right? Did I just blow my mysterious cover? LOL #fail #Ican’tbegossipgirl) To be honest, besides the obvious reason that Matcha = Love, I am also trying to finish up the remaining powder in my cabinet. Matcha is so expensive because its marginal…

BEST Banana Cake EVER – JB Hiap Joo Bakery
I LOVE Banana cake. Specifically, cold banana cake. I know it sounds a little peculiar, but try chilling a banana cake in the refrigerator and have it a few hours later. Oh, especially those swiss roll cakes with a gentle layer of whipped cream – SO DAMN GOOD. Celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, Hiap Joo bakery is one of the oldest bakeries in Johor Bahru (i.e. Southern tip of Malaysia) which opened in 1919. This family owned business is well known for their traditional and authentic wood fire baking techniques. Usually packed with several parallel queues outside the store, people travel to the busier part of town just to…

The 30th Week: GoT Season 8 Review
I usually start preparing new posts for Casa du Duchess around 3 weeks in advance. So if you’re reading this post as soon as it’s live, I shall apologise ahead for the somewhat delayed (and also irrelevant) outburst that you are about to read. Yes, you didn’t read the title wrongly. Instead of talking about progressions today, I’m steering off from food topics and into my dissatisfaction with the last 2 seasons of GoT. Hey, it’s my blog after all – it’s not like there are thousands of you waiting for a new recipe this week. (gosh, if you are here for that, THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU!) I…

Let’s Talk… Oats! – My Favourite Overnight Oats Recipe
The first time I had cold overnight oats, I was rather confused as it tasted very much like a pudding dessert. When I started experimenting with the different toppings and layering, I was so exhilarated and happy because I can finally eat desserts without feeling guilty anymore! 😀 Overnight oats is basically a no-cook method of making oatmeal. It involves soaking of the oats in milk or yogurt to be left to rest in the fridge. You can keep them in an airtight container, a jar, or even a bowl. The texture becomes much more creamier and denser than cooked oatmeal. It is also much tastier in my opinion! 4…
