Dalgona Coffee – Jumping on the Bandwagon

Everyone has been making Dalgona coffee, which is essentially a cold sweet foamy latte that is perfect as a post-meal beverage. If you haven’t heard of this South Korean trend that has taken over the internet over the past week or so, fear not, you have plenty of time to catch up – besides, where else do you have to be? Crazy times huh.

It’s an insanely easy-to-make coffee drink that can be prepared under 5 minutes. All you need is 4 ingredients which I believe all household pantries should have. However, it’s a very strict 1:1:1 ratio between coffee:sugar:water so please try not to reduce the sugar content, otherwise you will just end up with a coffee paste rather than a coffee froth.

Anyway, short & sweet recipe to accompany a short & sweet post. This recipe doubles up as a good indoor (lockdown) workout if you decide to do the whipping by hand. Good luck! Stay safe, stay sane, stay caffeinated. 🙂

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp White sugar
  • 2 tbsp Hot water , like just boiled-hot
  • 1 cup Milk
  • Ice cubes , optional

Instructions

  • In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the coffee, sugar and hot water in. Start whipping with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes. Alternatively if you are whipping using a whisk or a fork, beat it like a million times until the mixture foams up, or until your hand breaks.
  • Prepare a glass of milk with a few ice cubes. Spoon the coffee foam and top it onto the milk.
