HEAVENLY Green Smoothie

It’s a little difficult to be sharing this recipe because this is my own FAVOURITE green smoothie but the more you give, the richer you feel – right? ☺ 

There is something quite unique about me- I have never been on a diet before. I am very thankful to have inherited genes with high metabolism from my father, which allows me to lose weight very easily. I have also inherited some good genes from him, such as my height and a hairless body. Luckily I am a girl – you should see my brothers’ hairless legs. Before you start hating me, I have a lot of (unfavourable) qualities I have to deal with too ok.

Anyway, the reason why I mentioned diet is because this green smoothie is definitely a great meal-replacement drink. Not only it is full of nutrition, it taste HEAVENLY – as the title clearly points out. I swear, this will be the BEST green smoothie you will ever have in your whole life.

Powerful ingredients in one smoothie

What I love about this smoothie is that there is no sugar added, yet it tastes surprisingly sweet. Frozen dates are added in this recipe as they are excellent natural sweeteners. I’ve added 3 dates for this recipe, but you can always a couple more if you have a preference for sweeter drinks.

The best part about this green smoothie, besides the banana & the dates & the matcha & everything else, is the magnificent chia seeds! When chia seeds are soaked in liquid, they will absorb and expand from 9 to 27 times. They become very gelatinous which is more filling and satisfying, i.e. keeps you full though you’re on a diet.  I found this great informative page from SuperLife which explains the great health benefits from eating soaked chia seeds.

Have I already mentioned the “best part” of this smoothie? SCRATCH THAT – I have an even better fact on why this is the best smoothie in the world. One word, FIBRE. This drink is so fibre- abundant and you will have a glorious time in the toilet after a few hours.

Great for detox, great as a meal-replacement, great as just a delicious drink for the afternoon!

HEAVENLY Green Smoothie

My very own favourite green smoothie in the world. Full of nutrition, absolutely delicious, super filling and satisfying to the tummy!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Kale
  • 3/2 Banana pieces , frozen & cut
  • 3 Dates * , frozen
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 2 cups Almond milk (sweetened)
  • 1/2 tsp Matcha powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Chia seeds

Instructions

  • Remove the kale stems by plucking them.

  • Add the kale, frozen bananas slices & dates, avocado and almond milk into a juice mixer / blender. Blend thoroughly. Add the matcha powder and chia seeds, blend to mix.
  • Leave the smoothie in the fridge and serve after 15-20 minutes, allowing the chia seeds to soak and expand. Otherwise, feel free to serve immediately too!

Notes

* dates are natural sweeteners – add more to increase the sweetness of the drink.
